Mike,

I had a similiar issue with my Ultra Stick 40. My guess is that the smaller openings will fit the smaller JR servos that are specified in the directions. This is pretty standard of most ARFs that I have built. The manufacturer will size the opening for the smallest usable servo.

I used the Futaba 3003 servo (0.78" width) in the wings and needed to extend both the length and width of the opening. I simply used sandpaper attached to a stiff piece of wood and alot of patience! Actually it didn't take too long and the servos fit perfectly.

In your post you said that the wing rib was bordering the hole. I seem to remember a bit more room. I just went down to my workshop and took a look at my wing. I didn't remove a servo, but it appears that the servo opening is bordered by two wing ribs. The ribs appear to be about 1.5-2" apart therefore you should have enough room to open up the hole width wise.

I guess to make a long story short, I don't remember that being an issue - yes the wing ribs were close but I had enough room to get the servo to fit width wise.

By the way - great flying airplane, you will really love it.
