Muffler in cowl for CG Chipmunk
I'm finishing up a Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk and I'm mounting an OS 91 Surpass.
I followed the directions for mounting the engine horizontal. In hind site, inverted may have been better.
But my question is, if I can squeeze the muffler in the cowl - should I do it? Some have concerns of over heating - or the carb sucking in hot air. I test fit it, and I would have to do a little cutting to the bottom of the cowl (along with the hole I already made on the side for the top of the engine) - but it looks like it will fitm, and point downward. Or should I just have the entire muffler assembly out of the cowl - pointing out toward the wing.
Should it look pretty - or be plain old functional.
