I'm using 4-40 rods along with Dubro large scale T horns and E/Z connects. A bit overkill but I don't think the stock hardware is up the task, especially if you opt for a high powered motor up front.
I do not follow your logic. Why do you beef everything up then use E/Z connectors and only three screws in the control horn?
