Back to you, Old Fart - I didn't pick up on the suggestion of mounting the engine slightly tilted. I was thinking more along the lines of mounting it back towards the firewall as far as I can to avoid cutting the cowl too much. It would mean making a prop extension shaft - got a few ideas on that, as well as having a front bearing on the nose to keep it all rigid.
Will have to have a look at possibly mounting it like a Slant-6 Valiant donk
