Default RE: is the muffler temp the same as the engine?

Temperature measurements I took while I was breaking in my Moki 180 on the bench consisted of:

1) Between the cylinder cooling fins
2) At the base of the glow plug
3) At the exhaust manifold where it is attached to the engine
4) At the surface and exhaust outlet of the muffler.
5) At the crankcase

The highest temperature I recorded was right at the exhaust manifold and this sometimes was well in excess of 325 F degrees. The next highest point was at the base of the glow plug. Then in between the cylinder cooling fins. The muffler temperature was always significantly lower than the other measurements with the exception of the crankcase. The crankcase temperature never came even close to the other measurements.
