For me, it's an investment. Long term, I don't see the FAA allowing people who've actually had to pass tests to fly having a smaller operational envelope than recreational fliers. I predict they'll eventually allow 107 to go beyond 100 mph and routinely above 400 feet. Regardless, in the interim, I don't fly above that or faster than that now anyway. At that point, the cost is the same as AMA and you get the added benefit of being able to fly for money.
