I found an adhesive that is outstanding for gluing almost anything to anything, especially canopies. It is E6000. Can be found in hardware stores and craft stores. A far better adhesive than silicone and RC56. Dries clear but remains flexible after curing. Cleans up with water before it cures. Any smears can be cleaned up after cure by simply rolling it up under your finger. Where it really shines is gluing a non-porous item to a non-porous surface!
I use E6000 for a lot of things, and yes it is an excellent adhesive. For this application I think it is a bit too goopy and low in viscosity, but it could still be used at the corners or in spots that require extra strength.
