I used to come here a lot. Did a lot of build threads, painting tutorials etc. I've been here very little lately for a few reasons.

First of all, I'm bored with the site. While there are still a number of posts happening, I'm bored with it being so much of the same. Even new jets coming out, they are more of the same. There is little new that interests me. It's either way to big or looks like a pregnant fish. When it comes to the new products to put into jets, it's just not my thing. I'm old school in nature and flying jets that don't require all the flashy glitzy stuff that is coming out. I have stuck with the tried and true methods for decades and anytime I've tried the newest latest and greatest I've experienced some kind of issue. Not to say there is nothing good out there new, far from it, the technology is evolving at a tremendous rate and some incredible product is coming out but it's nothing I need or want.

Secondly, I got put off when I would spend hours writing tutorials on painting and yet if I put up a post saying that yes, I would paint jets, or put up pictures of more of my stuff as examples, it would get closed or outright removed and I'd be told that I can't post graphical ad's unless I was a paying advertiser, in the meantime, other people would pop up on this site, never offering a word of advice and every single post they made was advertising for their paint services.

Third, just tired of the manufacture bashing. Yes we are playing with high dollar toys and I guess there is no reason we should expect less than perfect, but the fact that somebody crashes an airplane these days and then comes on here wanting a free airplane pisses me off. I've been flying on my own since I was 5 years old, 1982. I've been through good kits and bad kits, I've been through the first ARF's that were overpriced and fell apart, I've been through the fly by night manufactures, I've been through the long term manufactures and at some point all of us have something fail. I've always accepted it's part of the game. I had RAM turbine after RAM turbine blow up on me. If there was no warranty, even if the engine had no hours, I sucked it up as part of the risk. Sucked bigtime but I've always felt we are accepting a risk with anything we buy.

Finally, I started noticing some of the original posters on here stopped posting, the ones who have a plethora of experience. I'm sure they too quit posting or slowed way down because they got tired of the armchair experts telling them they are doing it wrong, or getting into arguments when they have zero experience.

The entire hobby has changed and while I still enjoy the flying aspect the overall hobby is not as enjoyable as it used to be. Every event I go to, you can see the people there have divided into groups. It's not the same social hobby it used to be. The jet crowd is still probably the best for being social at events though.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the hobby still, but I guess it's why all the jets I have are at least 10 years old now, there is little out there that excites me in the way of new products. Or if a new jet is released that I like, it's usually way to big. I'm not interested in jets that I need a toy hauler to take anywhere that burns 2 gallons of fuel every flight.

Just my thoughts.
