The distance measured should be what ever it is with the plane sitting on the pads as posted above..so if the gear is only only half way compressed that is the correct distance. But also make sure the plane is sitting in a in flight level attitude. not tail low or nose low. if it does you need to shim the plane to level and reset the tare on the scales.
