Great attitude Jim. You collectively can walk away with the experiences from everyone here, each found their way one way or the other, but for you, you find your own way reflecting on the input from others. Each student has their own learning curve and from my keyboard I have no idea what that process to plateau for you will be. You're in Canada, you certainly have all the time this winter to complete the Kadet in time, no doubt. Lots of sticks on that fuselage, does take more time and patience than other kit designs, but it's very lightweight. Good conclusion on the 2 stroke, for every reason.
