Yeah, I think the 3mm should work OK, and with the Abrams the bright white should be right, as opposed to the warm white LEDs I use in WWII tanks.
I agree about the de-bonder, and I use this stuff called "Uncure" that works real well (my LHS carries it). With any de-bonder I haven't used before I'll take one of the sprues that came with the accessories (yeah, I save that stuff, mainly to stretch it for antennae and what not) and test to see if it will hurt the plastic. Much better to melt an old scrap piece of sprue rather than a brush guard or something else that won't be easy to replace, can ya dig it?
