VIDEO 3:12 the defended slows down changing the situation to close combat where missiles are useless and only guns can be used.
Guns point where aircraft is pointing.So the one who chase try to turn as tight as he can to take the kill.
With vector thrust he can turn tighter with out loosing cotrol and take the kill.
Canards are ok but they do need airflow.Something that vector thrust dont care about and offers superior manoeuvrability
