Thanks Mirce!
I am out of wood! I am waiting for my National balsa order to show up any day now. While I am waiting I framed up the tip tanks.
Notice the slick method used to hold the screws for the tip tanks. They are pre installed
while building so they are a permanent part of the tank. Only a small hole is needed to
guild your Allen wrench when attaching the tanks.
I am also using the M6-1.0x30mm screws to connect the fuselage pieces.
A little area I cleaned up and made it a little more scale is where the vertical meets the fuselage.
The top of the hatch in the stock kit actually bows upward and the vertical blends with the hump on
the spine. The red line in the picture shows how the shape of the original looked before shaping.
A much better way and much easier to construct is to sand the top of the hatch down 3/16" at the rear edge,
and reshape the formers behind that to match. Then just continue the sheeting to the base of the vertical. You can
see I added some support for the sheeting. Then it is an easy task to build the correct shape to the leading edge of the
vertical and blend it with whats left of the spine.
