Thanks for the acknowledgments Gents..!
That Yukon Jack looks good, too..!
The past several months I drive past the old flying site every day on the way to getting coffee. The huge building in the center of the field looks almost done. They haven't put in the parking lot yet.
RC flying of all sorts has been outlawed in the City Limits. This field was just on the very edge of the boundary.
So my interest in motorsports has shifted. At my age there was a sense of urgency to get another "ground up" car build done. 6 months into it, over 90% of the nasty metal fab, welding, grinding is done on this Datsun 280Z. It's nice to be able to say that since the old eyes don't take the pounding as well as they used to.
So, it's got a complete 2x3 steel tubing frame, original front crossmember / steering spliced into the new frame
Ford 302, 7000 rpm pieces
c6 trans with 10 inch converter
9 inch rear with my own design 4 bar suspension, 4.10 gears, Detroit Locker, Moser axles, M&H 28 x 12 Street Slicks
The idea is to keep it light, but streetable and water tight. I'm hoping for much less than 3000 pounds!
