If the old plug doesnt glow at all and the new one does, toss the old one and use the new one. As for the carb - it isnt a Perry, so it doesnt matter.
AFAIK the HB carbs are aluminum bodied and anodized, however I dont know for sure if they made some out of plastic.... I believe Perry used plastic exclusively and is one of the only companies that did.... The HB carb is very good - it works very well and is very easy to set,
