Default Damiano F86 1:4

Hi everyone,

this is my new 1:4 F86.

The model was designed by me, all parts are laser cut ad fit perfectly one each other.
Covered with 2mm balsa and 110g/mq fiberglass.
Engine is behotec 220 reduced at 115000 rpm. About 180 N
It is all in wood fuselage, wings, elevator and rudder. It’s about 18 kg without fuel (3.7liters).

As I do, the model was not yet painted for the first flight.
It’s a new model, new airfoil not copy of flying model airfoil, center of gravity was to verified, servo movements has to be checked…A lot of doubt. Target of the first flight was only to land without damages.
Arrived at airfield, in 5 minutes, the model is ready to fly but the springs of the rear gears has low stiffness. I try to run on asphalt and the it moves left and right but when the speed increase it run like on a binary.
I rotate and the model is in the air. In “take off” flight mode at about 30% of trust I put 5 point of trim to pitch and the model fly perfect. No trim on aileron. “Landing” flight mode require 9 point of trim and no aileron trim.
Target of first flight is to land without damage, I have 3-4 minutes to learn how land. First time was enough. It land much better than my best dreams, very easy and smooth.
In the second of 5 flight that I did I retract gears and flaps and…surprise: no trims needed. This is the first time for me, in 20 years of turbine flight. Target of this flight was set trim, movements of servos and try to understand how it stall. Reduced speed ,flaps, gears. The speed is very low but no stall appear. I will try next time.
Official cameraman of our group filmed the third flight, here you can see it:

The other 2 flight of the day was much better than the third, I’m really satisfied!

I want to thank all persons who help me during this job:
First my dad: he is the person who built the model. When the cut parts arrived he call me: ”please, print the drawings, I can start assembling structure” . The same evening I give the drawings to my dad and he answer me: “too late, yet assembled!” He made a beautiful job! No one trim was moved, Thank you Gianni!
Mirce set, for perfect(and fast) laser cut job.
Alewings, for professional cable set and electronic power system, simple to use, absolutely reliable and not too expensive.
Electron retracts: for the quality of product and for fast customer care. I ask them stronger spring for rear legs, they send me 2 couple of springs for free in one day.
Osvy model, for perfect exhaust tube. Very strong and light.

I’m sorry for my bad English.
