Maiden voyage this morning went very well. Plenty of power and with only one tankful of fuel thru the engine for break-in it runs surprisingly smooth. I used an 18-8 wood prop and I think it wants something bigger. Will see how a 19-8 works but may have to go back to the 18 if ground clearance is an issue. Had flight controls toned down pretty significantly which wasn't necessary. Moved back to more throw on the ailerons and things got better. Thing very stable inflight and a dream to land which I've done without flaps so far.
Because the gas engine I guessed to be heavier than whatever they suggested I opted to locate the two elevator servos in the aft cutouts just forward of the horizontal stab. Turned out to be a mistake and I should have used the forward cutouts internally in the fuselage as it took 1/2 lb of lead on the firewall to get it balanced even with both batteries located as far forward as physically possible.
