I can only confirm what you are saying: I have been using these untits for many years. What ET call "2D" mode, I call "landing" mode. I use it for landing, because in 2D mode, if you pull the elevator to flare, the ailerons remain in HH mode, so keeping your wings level. In 3D mode, as soon as you touch the elevator, the ailerons revert to AS3X (non HH) mode. But what you say about the bank angle in 2D mode I can confirm I had noticed that, and I never found a solution other than to live with it. Hope this helps you.
