I am not sure how little you have when you say "don't really have room" but I build mine (House of Balsa, 1/12 scale p-51) on the kitchen table using a 12"x48" shelf board. When I quit building for the day, I just put it up on the top of the entertainment center. I never did get around to buying the adjustable shelf system I originally planned to buy, but I am still using it. My wife really likes it now that I don't leave my stuff on the kitchen table for days at a time.

The kit P-51 is the only one I have so I really can't help with the ARF. Sorry.
