Not much help for those who've already built but I don't see why you couldn't just go to longer/stronger wing tubes... Struts are a band-aid solution.
The wing tubes are not the problem. They hold the outer panels on.
The center section is 6 ft. long. The wings are breaking near the middle of the center section, where the wing is shaped to fit around the cabin/windshield area.
