A dab of solder on the pushrod cable where the EZ connector will hold it helps. It keeps the cable from fraying from the pressure and gives the screw a soft but firm surface to bite into. I agree with others that a soldered on threaded adapter is the better way to go, but the adjustability of those EZ connectors is nice to have.
