I had the opposite experience! The Grumania trim sticks worked nicely in the workshop but when actually flying I found I could not move them perfectly in just one axis, so if trying to trim elevator then it pressed an aileron trim too. But back in the workshop it works properly! So, great in theory but bad in the real world, for me anyway.
I have no problem with the trim buttons, my thumb goes straight to them with no delay, and any big trimming on a maiden flight or setting up different flight modes is handled by auto-trim, not by me pressing the manual trim buttons. Manually trimming a model is so last decade!
