I recall owning one of those nav 'computers' back in the early 70's, second from the left, lower row. With that, the Cessna 172 was overweight before it left the ground.
There wouldn't be too many pilots who don't carry one even now, the compact plastic version, and use it most flying days, even if they're flying a 747 or 380.
