For that firefly M4A4 kit you need to lengthen a Sherman hull by scale 11 inches to be accurate. Otherwise it wont be, and that long rear upper hull hanging out the back of the tank will look weird. Keep in mind the US did not issue the M4A4 to US troops. It was only given to the UK for lend Lease and was given to all manner of allies from UK socks like the Free French, the Free Polish, Brittish Firefliy conversions, South Africans, and the Canadians used a lot of them. I would like to make a Canadian m4A4 from the Cherborg Fusiliers unit. They fought very bravely in the battle of Normandy and the break out and took very heavy casualties.
I love the Sherman. Im building a few at the same time. The M50 early super Sherman, finishing the M4a1 taigen up, still working my way through the M32B3 recovery tank, just finished the EZ8 save the decals, and need to get back to my early small hatch M4a1. Plus I have James Garners early M4a3 tank planned and coming. That M4a4 is an idea that I will do now that I have lengthened a Tamiya hull for the M50, I may use a Tamiya hull and do it the old fashioned way, or get two henglong hulls and cut them up.
