Not much has really changed to standard geometry layouts throughout the 80-90s, in fact most of the early 2000's were kinda slow too... it wasn't until around 8-10 years ago when innovation had drastically picked up and the industry drastically evolved with the introduction with new battery chemistries, advanced brushless technology, telemetry and frequency hopping radio systems, plus some of the more drastic geometry changes that go against everything old school racers were ever taught.

I'd argue that Tekno has made more technological advancements than any other brand on the market, there are tons of videos out there discussing their geometry which is worth reading up on.
