Default Fuel Proof Paint

Hi,

Getting back into RC flying after some years off. Still very much nitro based but I guess I might move towards electric as I get new stuff in the future.

Anyway built a new flight box because my old one had fallen apart. I bought a small tin of flair fuel proof satin clear but not that happy with it because it isn’t very sation, more matt, and it has run out before I could finish painting.

SoI need some more and thinking of going for a colour instead.

But two obstacles, no hobby shop nearby and the stuff is pretty expensive for such small tins. So wondering whether I can use anything else. Are car paints fuel proof - I’m guessing they must be. And if so, does it need to be the old style cellulose or will the newer water based ones work. And what about household polyurethane varnish?

Cheers,

Nigel
