Just noticed this thread. Here is the Scorcher by Ken Willard. I built and flown one for the summer of 1962. This design ended up being my favorite 1/2A model for it flew like it was on rails. Even placed second in a spot landing contest. The main problem that I had with it was the engine would cut out if I launched it too hard. Pressurised fuel will likely solve this problem.
It cannot compete against current pylon designs but it is plenty fast enough for me.
