With a half dozen flights, the canalizer seems to be functioning properly despite much worry.
Here are some canalizer notes:
1. Use substantial washers under the hold-down bolts to spread the load, about 12-15mm diameter. I made my own from fiberglass sheet.
2. Stiffeners can be made from the following material:
CST #6259 Balsa end-grain carbon sandwich
or CST #C5359 Rohacell carbon sandwich
I found these available at Graves in Orlando.
3. After getting the shims correct for the canalizer incidence, I elected to further seal the bed using the old silicon and Saran-wrap technique. It just seemed like bad mojo to allow a substantial airflow leak from under the canalizer that may affect it's function.
4. With the canalizer incidence set to equal the wing, it seems to match the fuselage hump at the front. Does yours?
