LOL!
I measured the carb throat and the insert bore in the crankcase. The carb throat was 0.550" and the insert bore is 0.510", a .040" tolerance fit!
No wonder it was such a bear to remove! I am convinced they had to use a press to insert it at the factory.
I machined the throat down so it is now a slip fit.
