Even though I want to sell the plane.. There is NO way I would recommend this as a first Jet to ANYONE. This is, at BEST, a second jet more likely a third...
For a first Jet, I would recommend something like a Boomerang (Maybe a Sprint or if he prefers the look Turbinator)or something of that nature.. If your son is exceptionally skilled a T1 perhaps..
There are a lot of RTF Trainer jets out there in the $3-4K range that would get him started just fine...
