We don't remove the stinger for transport, no need in this case but it definitely sticks way out there. Only thing I've seen in other builds is the key slots like Dave said. I like his idea for the twist off - the other I've seen the key slots both went the same direction and then there was a canopy latch installed on the bottom of the airplane to lock it in place after it's slid down.
Of course, you have the plane mave built right? He integrated that carbon tube into the stinger to make it a structural lifting point, so you wouldn't be able to use the key slot method with that tube passing through - actually, you could do the twist method I suppose.
