What yoo seem to need here is a drlling jig, a steel plate with properly located holes. Secure the jig in place and drill the remaining hole with the drill guded and restrained by the jig. No way for a mere mortal to mess that up! But YOU might.

If you feel too jinxed to make a blankety blank jig, send the gear to me. I will have my wife make one for you and return the whole thing in the mail. Yep, not only does she cut firewood, she is aheck of a machinist as well.

With no luck at all you should still be able to have it done before Hobbsy splits that little load of firewood .
