It used to be that a 4 channel standard radio was all you needed. But today 6 channel computerized radios are very inexpensive and are quite capable. They really represent the entry level radio of today. And if you are looking for a radio that will last you 5 years or more you will likely be best to get something with 8 channels. Just looking at dual flaps, dual ailerons, rudder, elevator, motor is 7 channels before you look at FPV or other features.
