Have any of you raced one of these? Nobody here in Texas has one that I know of.
I started out with Proud Birds in 2014. I got beat a lot and started thinking they weren't fast airplanes. I think the Wagners were the fast airplanes that year around here. (but they had already been discontinued and you couldn't get them anymore)
I tried out a Miss Dara. I liked the way it flew but still not fast enough. (and then I crashed it)
I tried a Scarlet Screamer but it just didn't feel right. Never raced it. Bought a Shoestring and didn't like the wing. It's still in the box. I began building Estrellita's and things got better for me. At first I thought I was on to something... (remember the" long wing planes are obsolete" thread in the other forum a few years back?) For a while almost everyone in Texas had some sort of short winged airplane.
This year, Fred F. and others are back to flying Proud Birds again, and still winning. They are as fast as anything out there. This year I've been right in there with them as far as speed is concerned with my Estrellita's, but I have a pylon cutting habit that I can't seem to shake.
It appears to me that winning is more about set up, good batteries, and consistent flying than anything else. I think any of our EF1 ARF's, kits, or scratch builds can be competitive.
Personally I like variety and I'm soon to be adding another one to my stable. The GR7.
