The AMA has shown nothing that made joining worth the money spent. I know some feel that comment is blasphemous, but it is true. As I've said in other threads, secondary insurance and an out of date magazine don't make it worth the money spent to most. In these days of instant gratification and instant knowledge provided by the internet, the AMA just can't compete. Their only leverage to get people to join is by forcing people to join to participate in events or, in hard line clubs, just to join
