I charge mine at 1 amp and my charger turns off at 2 hours. To get a full charge this last time I wound up having to charge them several times with a day between charge cycles. I would never charge batteries for 30 hours. You need a better charger. Those old wall chargers were good for old 600ma NiCds but the new NiMHs with greater that 2000Mah capacity need much higher charge rates to get a peak voltage.
