(1) Ask Richard what fuel he used and what prop he ran on it would be a good start.
However, if it's an pre-low oil, pre-cdi (ie early glow) DZ170 then a 19x11 is a bit on the large size, and dropping back to something around a 17x13 or similar might help?
I have a DZ170cdi and the regulator needed to be turned out from flush well over 1/2 a turn and the main needle set to about 3/4 turn out. I've never run mine on Glow but the guys who have seem to suggest running the main needle around 1.5 turns out. Somebody may correct me on that though.
When I've had a horrible time finding an initial setting for the regulator, I've found starting the engine at the desired higher throttle setting helps rather than trying to bump the throttle while it's running, but again I've only ever done this with the CDI version.
I hope some of this helps??
