methanol has a very high octane rating. I don’t think detonation is a problem with high compression engine. I do know I can’t run my 180 HC on glow it will not idol but will run at full throttle. The CH ignition takes care of all them problems.
sounds like you just need a different heat range plug, try to find a colder plug
