I buy lead shot from a sporting goods store, or you can use wheel weights as stated above. I bought a Lee lead melter and small ingot tray mold for less than $30.00 total and make lead ingots in different weights by not filling the mold completely. The mold provides 1/4 pound and 1/2 pound ingots when filled to the top of the mold. I tried the lead shot in epoxy routine and thought it too sloppy and not reuseable in the event of aircraft decimation.... This seems to be the best route that I have found.
