I have never seen or heard of a rear bearing having a shield in any RC glow engine. there may be one out there but I have not seen it.

Common sense dictates removal for obvious lubricant passage reasons.
Be interesting to know the answer to this long debated subject from Saito MFG.
I have torn down many, virgin from the factory, Saito engines. Back then I worked on many of the engines that we sold there. Often I personally sold the engines and knew the owners well.
