UPDATE:
I have finished testing a new aftermarket IR receiver that is compatible with the 6.0 Heng Long battle system. It has excellent performance in all lighting conditions and easily receives hit from 75 + feet away with a consistency rate of 85-90%. About equal to the performance Tamiya battle system and its receiver.
