I entered my first comp with an IC powered plane a few years ago. I was a bit nervous but managed to win my class in a field of mostly electric......the wind was rather strong in the afternoon and clearly I had the power and the advantage.
One of the judges said to me mostly IC flyers switch to electric after 3 comps . I am still trying to work out what he meant
I have won many comps since and gained promotion to the higher class so why change to electric.
I don't believe in monkey see monkey do........its not healthy for the sport
Yeah, I love my YS. I've always flown YS in pattern and I'm in FAI F3A class now.
A lot can't tune properly, so they go to electric. But electrics have problems, regardless of what they tell you.
