newbie here,
i bought the sport cub s2 back in the summer. on my 3rd flight, it just flew away. i thought it may have been me being a beginner, but i replaced it with a volantex, and haven't had any issues at the same distance. (about 2-300 feet)
i contacted horizon hobby, and they are sending me a new plane, and advised that i purchase a better transmitter.
