RE: Help with my GP Pitts PLEASE!!
I would sure turn my attention to the aileron setup as both of your issues relate to
that part of the control system. If you have the struts connected and you're getting
wing warpage then you are putting one heck of a load on the control system. One
possibility is that you're pulling the voltage low enough by stalling the servo to affect
radio operation and causing the jitters. If your antenna position was causing a problem
it would do it all the time and not just when you operated the ailerons. I'm using two
servos with linkage to drive the uppers also and have no problems. The linkage should
run from as close as you can get to the trailing edge on both surfaces. This provides
the best geometry to prevent flutter in the upper aileron. The attachment point should
be equal distance from the hinge lines as well to prevent differential movement between
the upper and lower ailerons. If the geometry of the pushrods is correct, it sure sounds
like you have have an upper aileron that is binding or limited in travel as compared to
the lower. Whatever you do, find and fix this problem before you try flying it.
