Bump!! I just got word from TH that my Rascal 80 is being shipped from Ontario, Canada and should arrive on Tuesday, Oct 12. I thought I'd toss that out in case anyone was considering getting one. They still show up on the TH website as Backordered but I have my FedEx tracking number in hand.
This has been on order since about late March - I'm glad that I stuck with it. I'm going to put the plane in storage until next year and have a fresh new Rascal to fly in the Spring. I don't want to mess it up by flying in winter conditions. I have enough other projects to keep me busy.
One thing I'm going to do is to fasten the LG with nylon bolts. My field is a bit bumpy and those things have saved more than one landing gear block. I have look in my files to see if I had written down any other thoughts bout building up the new Rascal..... I also replaced the tailwheel springs with solid music wire. I felt that the springs were too soft and I could not turn effectively when I was taxiing. Do any of you have any unique ideas to kick around for this plane as I build it from new?
RCISFUN, I see your Night Rascal and that's a nice idea. I do have a set of lights that I bought but never used. How about a tutorial about how you installed those lights? What was it like to fish wires through the wings, etc.?? Separate power source???
How about any other thoughts to toss around???
