That's a fairly common aileron setup for biplanes that are not huge. As you've
discovered, it works well given a servo of sufficient torque is used. Usually larger
bipes run 4 servos instead as they need the torque and have easier places to
hide the wires. As I recall the most recent manual did mention both methods.
