Thanks guys

It was the first time I did the cowl that way. First I sanded it lightly to remove the shine and then I used a small TF trim iron, working slowly from the center outwards. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was possible to achieve a good covering with practically no air bubbles.
As to the strength of the film adherence to the cowl, I first tried this method on some scraps of the same plastic and found it stuck on very strongly.

BTW, having gained experience with most covering materials available, I have concluded that not only do the cheaper ones do a great job even compared to the famous brands, but it seems to me that for some reason their adhesive is somewhat stronger, so these films are now my first choice. They are also available in 5 meter rolls which reduces the problem of colour mismatch which sometimes occurs.

As to that antenna wire... yes I still have and use quite a few of those.
I do have a 2.4 system too but I see no reason to stop using older, reliable equipment, just because there’s a different technology available today.
