California gets a feed from US Customs so when you purchase something from abroad our greedy state is right there with hands open to charge you with whatever our local (it varies across different counties) sales tax is on your purchase. Funny...when I lived there, I called it the People's Republic of California. Only got marginally better moving to the Democratic People's Republic of Maryland.
