Another thing I just noticed in the instructions are what look like brass inserts in the road wheels.. is that just brass tube? Would it be practical to use bearings there?
usually brass is good enough; all my tank suspensions are plastic on plastic or brass on plastic, never used bearings for road wheels, but if you want to use the tank intensely you can rework the holes for bearings.
Did you get the assembly manual from Chris?
Only for getting an idea: if the stainless steel sheets are too less flexible you may use spring wire instead.
