Job that pays for the hobby gets in the way of the hobby.
Yes, the gyros are on the rudders and alerons..Thanks Bill.
The problem with this or any P-38 is that the engines are too far apart, the rudders too small, and the wing loading is very high.
The plane yaws and rolls over instantly. The gyros dampen this to the point you can react and throttle back and make plans for a quick landing. Have not "Had this pleasure" on this one, but am speaking from four others.
All my P-38's gain speed in a dive like you say as a bowling ball. So did the origainals. Note the compressability problems in a dive.
90's are over powered and could tear off the wings. I do not recommend them for that reason...but I never listen to myself.!!! Do as I say, not as I do on power.
The spring air retracts and the stucture of the mounts in the plane, survived a rough grass landing fine. Discovered I was having so much fun, the engines flamed out 2' above the ground. No glad ratio. Do not cut the engines to idle to land any P-38!!!
Want to reduce the effectiveness of the nose servo, but the pull pull wiring is already at max holes at the gear and max inner hole on the servo. Used all nine channels, so separate mixing is out for the nose servo. How do I do this to myself.
No, it is not necessay to use nine channels!!!! Six is just fine with retracts.
This high speed landing bent the nose offset oleo strut. Robart seems to be the same size and design, so not sure of direction on that. OK Land better, but this does not help those of you who will always land on grass.
